ICD National Championships Arena UK April 2023

About the sport

The grace of Precision and Paces, the accuracy through the cones, the speed and thrills of the obstacles.

Based on horse driving trials, this is a full event in a few hours in the comfort and convenience of an indoor arena.

Spectators are always welcome, and this friendly sport is the ideal way into competitive driving. Listen to a talk on this by Dick Lane

ICD is delighted to announce Hugh Scott-Barrett as its new chairman

Hugh says "It is a great privilege and honour to chair Indoor Carriage Driving UK in the next stage of its hugely successful development. I very much hope that some of the things I have learned in my business career as well as in some quite varied roles in the sport of driving will help build on the achievements of Dick Carey and his team."

Hugh Scott-Barrett

In memory of Roger Alway

Sadly, another of the original Indoor Team has passed away.

Roger Alway was one of the first to become a team member and shareholder in the new Indoor Carriage Driving Ltd way back in the autumn of 1997.

Roger was a cones course designer for BHDTA plus obstacle builder along with Dick Carey at many Brighton and Normanhurst HDTs. When Indoor Driving was in its infancy, he would travel the country to help run the qualifiers, as the indoor sport became established, many of the team had their own particular area to take their expertise too. Roger was no exception, he spent many weekends over many years, travelling from his home in Kent into Essex to help establish the East Anglia area.

Roger had not been in good health in recent years so had to stand back from being part of the Indoor Team. Our condolences to his wife Jean and family. Roger will be greatly missed by all who knew him over many years of Horse Driving Trials, not only during the winter Indoor Seasons but also the summer National and Regional HDT's across the country. Indoor Driving will always be grateful for his time and experience given so willingly to so many. RIP Roger.
